Housing
At Columbia University, housing is guaranteed for all four years. There are more than 20 residents halls (Columbia University in the City) which are coed and non-coed and house a total of 5200 students. All freshman must live on campus (College View), but about 95% of students live on campus all four years (Columbia University in the City).

Facilities
("Butler Library")
There are 22 libraries, including Butler Library, shown in the picture to the left. There are seven different locations to eat on campus with 12 cafes. Each with different times throughout the day but most offer sandwich type options. The University has many different athletic facilities that include, but not limited to:
- Levien Gymnasium
- Dick Savitt Tennis Center (with an air dome)
- Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium
- Class of 1929 boathouse
- Dodge Fitness Center (has anaerobic exercise equipment and 5,000 square feet of exericse space for exercise classes such as aerobics, body sculpting, martial arts and yoga)
- Baker Field (seats 17,000) (Columbia University in the City)
Dining
There are many features in the dining program of Columbia, such as dining plans, food options that accommodate personal food allergies, and pick-up catering. Columbia offers pick-up catering to students for events or group gatherings on behalf of JJ's, which is a cafe on the University's campus. Columbia accommodates all special diets, including Kosher and Halal meals as well as any food allergy or intolerance (Columbia University in the City). Columbia University in the City says, "We truly believe that it is our job to take care of students so that they can focus on academic life without worrying about what to eat on campus."
Dining Plans
All first-year students are required to choose one of two Dining Plans, each of which comprises a varying number of meals, served in John Jay Dining Hall, Ferris Booth Commons, or JJ's Place and Dining Dollars, which can be used at the 12 dining locations on campus. The cost of both plans is $2326 per term.
- Plan 1: 19 meals per week and 75 Dining Dollars per term, plus 15 floating meals and 6 Faculty meals
- Plan 2: 15 meals per week and 125 Dining Dollars per term, plus 10 floating meals and 6 Faculty meals
- Plan A: 14 meals per week and 200 Dining Dollars per term, plus 15 floating meals and 6 Faculty meals ($2,150 per term)
- Plan B: 175 meals and 200 Dining Dollars per term, plus 6 guest meals ($2,000 per term)
- Plan C: 100 meals and 125 Dining Dollars per term, plus 4 guest meals ($1,275 per term)
- Plan D: 75 meals and 75 Dining Dollars per term, plus 2 guest meals ($975 per term)
- Plan A: $2,365 per term
- Plan B: $2,200 per term
- Plan C: $1,403 per term
- Plan D: $1,073 per term
